Hungary aspires to a leading role in drone technology, László Palkovics, the minister of innovation and technology, said at a conference. The potential applications and economic impact of unmanned aerial vehicles on a global scale is significant, Palkovics said at a conference organised by Hungarian air traffic controller HungaroControl. He said the market opportunities associated with drone technology in Europe each year were worth over ten billion euros.

In Hungary, drone licences will soon exceed 20,000, and unmanned aerial vehicles are routinely used today in agriculture and forestry, logistics, haulage, infrastructure surveillance and public services.
